If you are thinking of buying a new truck or van there is plenty of demand for these vehicles right now. The SMMT has revealed this month that truck and van sales continue to perform well and that registrations in the month of August were up 22.8% compared to the same time last year.
“August saw the strong and sustained bounce-back continue across much of the van and truck industry as operators returned to more typical replacement schedules,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive. “With the commercial vehicle market up by over 20% for the year-to-date, industry is optimistic, but short to medium term economic uncertainty is likely to temper the rate of future growth.”
August is usually a below average month for the van registration schedule and has historically experienced between 5% to 6.5% of the annual total in registration volumes (based on 1997 to 2007). The most popular van sales in August 2011 were for Ford vans with Volkswagen trailing closely behind. At the bottom of the list was Toyota who sold only 290 units during the month.
