Ford recognised by the Energy Saving Trust

The Energy Saving Trust has once again announced its annual ‘Fleet Heroes’, and for the second time in three years, Ford has received a prestigious award for the innovation it has contributed to the industry, helping to lower fuel bills and reduce car and fleet van emissions.

The prize itself was collected by Kevin Griffin, Fleet Director of Ford UK, and was awarded specifically for Innovation in Van and Car manufacturing.

With Ford becoming regulars at the Energy Saving Trust awards, it is great to see those manufacturers committed to creating more sustainable and environmentally friendly vehicles being rewarded for their efforts.

Specifically, Ford was recognised by the four judges on the panel for “bringing premium, efficient vehicle technologies to wider fleet markets at a low cost.”

The judges added: “Ford is bringing premium, efficient vehicle technologies at low cost to wider fleet markets including cars and vans. They are the only volume manufacturer to bring products like active grille shutters, smart regenerative charging, lane-keeping aids and automated car parking to this segment of the market.”

Steve Fletcher, Ford fleet operations manager, said: “We are delighted to be recognised for our continuing efforts in increasing the levels of technology in our vans and across our entire vehicle range. Not only are we successfully managing to lower CO2 emissions, we are also working hard to implement measures which promote fuel-efficiency and safer driving”.

Van insurance customers will be pleased to see the success Ford is having at improving the standard of driving on the UK’s roads; a move that should in time be recognised by insurers in the shape of cheaper van insurance premiums.
